The Frisco Kid –Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 1p
Cowboy-themed lunch

Rabbi Avram Belinsky (Gene Wilder) lands in Philadelphia intending to travel to San Francisco, where he plans on starting a synagogue. Quickly relieved of his belongings by a group of con artists, Avram optimistically sets out alone on foot toward the Wild West. He gets into one scrape after another until he is rescued, in a way, by a compassionate horseman named Tommy Lillard (Harrison Ford). Unfortunately, Tommy may not be quite as heroic as he seems, and it is still a long way to California.

Making Trouble: Three Generations of Funny Jewish Women
Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 7-9pm
Wine, cheese, and chocolate

“What is it that makes funny Jewish women so funny…and so Jewish? Is it a nose wrinkled just so, accompanied by a devilishly sexy grin or a jolting and sarcastic punch line? Is it the acerbic humor of generations of immigrant and first-generation women who fought for a place in America with their brains and their wit, and at the same time needed to make a living? Making Trouble celebrates three generations who, for all of the reasons above, successfully went from vaudeville and the Yiddish theatre to Broadway, from Ziegfeld’s Follies to Saturday Night Live.” -San Francisco Jewish Film Festival
