The Jewish Cemetery has a long and honorable history and has been the principal place of interment for the Jewish community of the Virginia Peninsula for over 100 years. The Cemetery is operated as a non-profit, tax exempt foundation by a Board of Trustees representing all synagogues and the Federation.

The cemetery is welcoming to all Jewish families (including non-Jewish members of a Jewish family). Separate burial sections for all of the community are operated in accordance with the governing principles of the Orthodox, Conservative, and Reform movements.

The financial support of the community is needed to take advantage of opportunities to acquire adjoining property and to continue appropriate upgrades, such as redesigning and rebuilding the entrance, planting suitable shrubs and trees, as well as handling deferred and continued maintenance and care needs. Tax deductible contributions are welcome to support these objectives from Peninsula residents and non-residents who have family buried in the cemetery. If you are interested in contributing to the Cemetery Fund or wish additional information, contact E. D. “Buddy” David.
