Shavuot is one of the least observed major Jewish Holidays (it’s the one where we get the 10 Commandments). We are hoping to change that this week. During Shavuot, we are encouraged to pull all-nighters, play with water and eat dairy treats! (It’s so much fun, we think it should be one of the most observed holidays!)
- The main ritual associated with Shavuot is known as Tikkun Leil Shavuot, it means staying up all night in study sessions.
- In Israel, Shavuot is the holiday of water. In the center of many cities, massive crowds engage in water fights on the holiday, tossing water balloons at each other or spraying passersby with powerful water guns.
- Shavuot is the awesome Jewish observance where dairy foods like cheesecake and blintzes are customary to eat, but ice cream is always good too!
