Spring has sprung (in Israel)! It might still be winter in Virginia, but we all love a celebration!
Tu B’Shevat begins on January 27th and it is the holiday for the celebration of trees and the spring harvest, commonly called the Birthday of the Trees. Here are some fun ways to observe this festival holiday:
*Eat one, or all, of the seven species harvested on Tu B’Shevat: Wheat, Barley, Grapes, Figs, Pomegrantes, Olives, Dates *Plant a tree (or another kind of plant or herb) *Take a walk in the woods and enjoy nature *Eat some broccoli – its not one of the seven species, but it sure looks like a tree! *Make an effort clean up litter while you are out and about or step up your recycling efforts at home
