What an exciting couple of weeks! I hope everybody was able to enjoy the rare Eastern Virginia snowfall. It provided a great opportunity for us to engage the kids in winter themed activities the few days we attended school. We’ve been reading The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats. Last week we made snow people out of homemade “snow dough”. This week we brought snow inside to make snowballs and use our five senses to explore snow. We also revisited Froggy Gets Dressed and finished making our own book about getting dressed for cold weather.
Our friend Mirika’s last day at school was Friday. She is moving to Maine. We will miss her lots, but we look forward to hearing from her about her plane ride and all about Maine. It is always sad to see friends go, but also neat to think of having friends in new and interesting places.
Assessments are coming up! If you did not return the assessment form from last marking period, please do so by Wednesday Feb. 5th. We will set up conferences after assessments go home.
Next week we will be talking about what animals do in winter. Have a great weekend!
