You'll never know when you'll need help, but you will know where to find it.

Jewish Family Services was created by the UJCVP to meet the social service needs of the community. Every person is treated with respect, confidentiality, and careful attention. Each year, clients benefit from our diverse programs and services. At Jewish Family Services, everyone is welcome. We provide services to everyone from all walks of life regardless of age, religious affiliation, or gender.

Case
Management

We welcome individuals, families, and older adults facing diverse challenges – financial emergencies, hunger, unemployment, housing, instability at home, and growing concerns with physical or mental health. When you are working hard, but falling short, we serve as committed partners in navigating the resources available to you and your family.

First, we listen. Then, we work together to problem-solve, find the most helpful options for your unique situation, and create a plan to support your immediate stability and long-term goals.

Holiday
Support

JFS provides Rosh Hashanah & Passover food items and Hanukkah children's gifts for families in need within our community. This initiative ensures that everyone can celebrate the joy and traditions of Jewish holidays, regardless of financial circumstances. Through generous donations and the support of our volunteers, we deliver thoughtful gifts and essential holiday foods, bringing comfort and joy to those who might otherwise struggle during these special times.

Financial
Assistance

For community members residing on the Virginia Peninsula experiencing financial hardships, we may be able to provide limited assistance with vital expenses.  JFS may be able to provide gift cards to grocery stores and gas stations, or may be able to provide financial assistance for other necessities such as utility assistance, rent or other living expenses on a limited basis.  In addition, we may be able to provide assistance through scholarships to UJCVP programming.

Senior
Services

We offer many social and intellectual programs for senior adults of all backgrounds. With a multitude of options, we encourage seniors to participate in educational, cultural, spiritual, fitness, and social programs to increase health, well-being, and connection to others.
